Doris Miller Guier, age 81 of Hwy 226 North Bakersville, NC went home to be with the Lord October 21, 2016. She was a native of Mitchell County, NC and the daughter of the late Winton and Zula Gortney Miller.

Doris was a member of Ridgeview Presbyterian Church and enjoyed cooking. Her pies that she prepared at Helen's Restaurant were famous and won several blue ribbons. She dearly loved her nieces and nephews.

Survivors include: her sister in law; Ellen Miller, of Bakersville, NC, two nephews; Aaron and Michael Miller, a great nephew; Everett Miller, and a great niece; Violet Miller, and a very special friend Kathy Honeycutt, of Bakersville, NC.

She was preceded in death in addition to her parents by: her husband; George Guier and a brother; James Henry Miller.

Graveside services will be held Sunday, October 23, 2016 at 2:00PM at Phillips Cemetery, Red Hill, NC, with Richard Sparks officiating. Interment will follow the service.
