Dateline: Bakersville, NC

Dennis James Peterson, age 55, of Fork Mountain Rd., Bakersville, NC went home to be with the Lord, September 15, 2019. He was a native of Mitchell County, NC and a son of the late Arnold and Lucille Bennett Peterson.

Dennis was a former member of Middle District Freewill Baptist Church and attended Bowman School and Mountain Opportunity. He loved going to church and enjoyed music by The Primitive Quartet and Dolly Parton.

Survivors include: one sister; Anita Banner, of Newland, NC, two brothers; Mike Peterson (Tina) and Daris Peterson (Wilma), both of Bakersville, NC and one aunt; Eunice Peterson, of  Spruce Pine, NC, and also several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 18, 2019 at 2:00PM in the chapel of Henline - Hughes Funeral Home with Roger Laws and Blaine Whitson officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Flat Branch Cemetery.
