Dennis Wayne McKinney, 77, of Bakersville, NC passed away on Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at his home. He was the son of the late Floyd and Savannah Slagle McKinney. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Michael McKinney; sisters, Gladys Hoilman and Lou Ella Burleson; and a brother, Frank McKinney.

Wayne loved his family and friends, especially his grandsons, Dalton and Dillon Ledford. He also enjoyed working in his shop building furniture and he loved his little Yorkie "Daisy".

Survivors include his wife Tillie McKinney; daughter, Melissa McKinney (Dean Corn) of Bakersville; sisters: Frances Cooper of Maryland and Rose Knight of Virginia Beach; brother, Ronald McKinney of Bakersville; and his grandsons, Dalton Ledford and Dillon Ledford.

Funeral services will be 3:00 PM Saturday, January 15, 2022 in the Fork Mountain Baptist Church with Pastor John McKinney officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
