David Bruce Hughes, 56, went to heaven on July 20 ^th 2013.

Mr. Hughes was born on August 1 ^st , 1956 in Spruce Pine to Wilma Hughes and the late Bob Hughes. He was a member of McKinney Cove Baptist Church and a 1975 graduate of Bowman High School. Mr. Hughes was a caring and loving husband, son, father and brother who will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He dedicated his life to taking care of his special needs son Nathan.

Besides his father he was preceded in death by his loving wife Debra Buchanan-Hughes. In addition to his mother he is survived by in-laws Jerry and Juanita Buchanan of Bakersville; special friend Charlie Blankenship; daughters Courtney Craig and husband Caleb of Greenwood, IN,  Whitney Hughes of Spruce Pine and Brittney Hughes of Lenoir, NC; sons Thomas, Jordan and Dustin Hughes of Lenoir, Tyreece Hughes of Spruce Pine and Nathan Ballard of the home. Also survived by brothers Richard Hughes and wife Sue of Forest City, NC, Thomas Hughes of Palm Springs, CA, Dan Hughes and wife Denise of Concord, CA, Dale Hughes and wife Sharon of Asheville, Daryl Hughes of Bakersville; sister Isobel Oldfather and husband Gail of Diablo, CA; plus several grandchildren and one on the way.

Funeral services will be held Monday, July 22, 2013 at 7:00PM in the chapel of Henline – Hughes Funeral Home with Reverend Todd Ayers officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will be Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at 11:00 AM at McKinney Cove Cemetery with Bakersville Masonic Lodge# 357 AF&AM serving as Pallbearers.
