Cynthia Karen Short

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Cynthia Karen Short, born May 2, 1952 in Bakersville, NC, who departed this world on September 16, 2023 in Kingsport TN.

Cindy was preceded in death by her mother and father, Juanita and Russell Woody, her sister, Pamela (Sue) Vance, husband Bob Short, special aunt, Natalie Greene, and special nephews, Larry Dean Greene and William Gregory Greene.

Cindy left behind her younger sister, Deborah Strickland (Steve), stepsons Cory (Beth) and Justin Short, and daughter Jordan Short.  She left behind ten grandchildren Adilyn King (14), Max (10), Audrey (8), and Harrison Worthley (7), Claudia (22), Rebecca (20), Hannah (17), Porter Short (6), Emily (21), and Taylor Short (19). She left  behind a nephew and niece Edward Burleson (Stacey) and Savannah Sheilds (Mike). Cindy also left behind her special 'Moose' friends (Lisa, Misty and Stacey).

The family will receive friends beginning at 11 am on September 20th at Henline Hughes Funeral home at 85 Crimson Laurel Way in Bakersville, NC with Reverend David Hobson officiating followed by the service at noon and graveside following at Roan Valley Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the House of Ruth at www.houseofruth.org.
