Connie Waycaster Dellinger age 72 of Newland the Ingalls community passed away Wednesday September 2, 2026 at her home. Born in Mitchell County she was a daughter of the late J.C. and Ruth Carpenter Waycaster. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her special Grandmother Cory Waycaster, and her brothers, Vince, Teddy and R.J. Waycaster.

Connie was a member of Whites Memorial Baptist Church and worked as the Manager for Mountaineer Pawn Shop in Spruce Pine. She enjoyed traveling, cooking, writing poetry and sitting on the porch and she loved her cats.

Left to cherish her memories is her husband Darrell Dellinger of the home, her daughter, Sherrie Burleson Huskins and husband Travis of Spruce Pine, grandchildren, Zack Sparks and Corbin Huskins and a great grandson Hunter Sparks. She is also survived by a brother Norman Waycaster and wife Melanie of Hickory, NC, sisters, Ruby Biddix and Alice Ollis both of Spruce Pine, her mother-in-law Polly Dellinger of Newland and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mrs. Dellinger will be conducted at 2:00 pm Saturday September 5, 2026 at Whites Memorial Baptist Church with the Rev. Roger Griffin officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow in the Whites Memorial Baptist Church cemetery.

The family would like to extend their deep appreciation for the wonderful care provided to Connie from Hospice of the Blue Ridge.
