Clay Bennett, age 81, of Bakersville , NC , passed away on Friday, April 7, 2017 at his home. He was the son of the late Sam and Nettie Edwards Bennett. Clay was a member of Cub Creek Baptist Church of which he loved to attend. His favorite sport was fishing and deer hunting. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sister, Evelyn Ray and brothers: Bill, Junior, Glenn, Ray, James and Jack Bennett.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce Dalton Bennett; daughter, Teresa Lentz and his son, Daniel Bennett both of Colorado ; sisters: Betty Honeycutt of Burnsville and Jerri Whitson of Spruce pine; brother, Lee Bennett of Green Mountain ; his special granddaughter, Ali Burleson Garrett and special niece, Sherry Hughes McKinney.

Funeral services will be 5:00 pm Saturday, April 8, 2017 at his home, 2236 Hwy 80, Bakersville , NC with Doug Willis and Phillip Garland officiating. Burial will follow in the Clay Bennett Cemetery .
