Claude Garland, age 88, of Hide Rd, Bakersville, NC went home to be with the Lord, December 2, 2018. He was a native of Mitchell County, NC, and a Veteran of The United States Army. He was a graduate of Harris High School, a member of Cub Creek Baptist Church, deacon, teacher of the young men's Sunday school class, and Sunday school superintendent. He was retired as a millwright in the TVA Nuclear Program. Claude enjoyed boating and fishing.

Survivors include: his wife; Irene B. Garland, of the home, daughter; Deborah Womble; of Statesville, NC, one brother; Clyde Garland, of Unicoi, TN, one step grandson; Andrew Womble, special friends; Marion and Joanne Freeland, of Spring City, TN, and special nephew; Doug Garland, special nieces; Sara Allen, of Boca Raton, Florida, and Ann Hoilman, of Bakersville, NC and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by: parents; Fayte and Mary Garland, one sister; Thelma Hoilman, two brothers; Lee and Fletcher Garland.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 6, 2018 at 8:00PM in the chapel of Henline - Hughes Funeral Home with Ronnie Gouge, Doug Willis, and Clifford Willis officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will be Friday, December 7, 2018 at 11:00AM at Fairview Cemetery (Horton Hill Rd).
