Cheryl P. Buchanan, 57, of the Cane Creek Community, passed away on Friday, April 17, 2015 at her home. She was the daughter of the late Claude Pitman and Joyce Jones Pitman of Bakersville. Cheryl was the owner of the Blue Ridge Variety Store in Spruce Pine and was a member of the Cane Creek Baptist Church.  In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Eddie Buchanan; her son, Michael Buchanan, sister, Diana Hughes and brother, Thomas Pitman all of Bakersville; also several nephews and one niece.

Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Monday, April 20, 2015 in the Cane Creek Baptist Church with Ronnie Gouge and Lonnie McClellan officiating. The burial will be private. Memorials may be made to the Hospice and Palliative Care of the Blue Ridge, 236 Hospital Drive, Spruce Pine, NC 28777.
