Charles William "Bill" Loven, age 73 of Hwy 261 Bakersville, NC passed away Thursday, October 13, 2016 at his home. He was a native of Mitchell County, NC and the son of the late Edmund T. and Nora Masters Loven.

He was a graduate of Bowman High in 1961 and Mars Hill College in 1965. He received a full scholarship to Mars Hill College and was awarded the school record for most points scored in a basketball game, and also held several other scoring records.

After college he worked with E.F. Craven Company in Greensboro , NC and from 1969 until 2005 with French Broad Electric Company in Burnsville , NC where he was District Manager.

Survivors include: his wife; Stacy Loven, of the home, one son; Jeff Loven (Kelly), of Marshall, NC, two stepchildren; Bricen and Hannah Anders, one sister; Nora Lee Bolton (Alfred L. Jr.), of Greensboro , NC , three grandchildren; Baylea, Rachael, and Michael Loven, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death in addition to his parents by: a son; Michael Edmund Loven, and a sister; Jeanette Elaine Street .

Funeral services will be held Sunday, October 16 at 4:00PM in the chapel of Henline - Hughes Funeral Home with Todd Ayers officiating. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service. Interment will follow the service at Bakersville Memorial Cemetery .
