Charles Ray Gardner, 68, of the Buladean Community, passed away on Monday, October 30, 2017 at his home. He was the son of the late Frank and Ella Mae Childers Gardner and he attended the Beans Creek Church of Jesus Christ.

Ray is survived by his wife, Faith Hope Gardner of Bakersville; son, Harry Howard Smith of Bakersville; two grandchildren: Damon and Josh Smith; two godchildren: Megean and Corey Briggs and one god grandchild; sisters: Carrie Wilson, Betty English and Darlene Putman all of Bakersville and Margaret Gardner of Unicoi, TN; brothers: Richard Gardner of Bakersville, Melvin Gardner of Lenoir and George Gardner of Drexel.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters and brothers: Faye, Irene, Bernice, Frank, Harry, James and J.D. Gardner.

Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Saturday, November 4, 2017 in the chapel of Henline-Hughes Funeral Home with Brother Larry Garland, Pastor G.B. Garland and Pastor Tim Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in the Greene Acres Cemetery on Putman Road in Buladean.   The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service.
