Charles Dean Ellis, age 81, of Spruce Pine, passed away on Tuesday, March 24, 2015 in the Brian Center . He was the son of the late Arnold and Dovie Duncan Ellis. Charles Dean was a veteran of the US Army and he was a member of Pine Branch Baptist Church . He enjoyed spending time with his family, woodworking and photography.

Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years, Rosalyn Calloway Ellis; daughter, Lesia Ellis Hise and husband Phillip of Spruce Pine; son, Charles Scott Ellis and wife Wendy of Bakersville; brother, Phillip Ellis of Spruce Pine; grandchildren: Allison Vines and husband Chuck, Jada McMahan and husband Justin, Adrian Stamey and husband Luke, Erin Greene and husband Adam and Zoe Ellis; great grandchildren: Noah, Finley, Greyson and Sawyer. Charles Dean was preceded in death by his brothers: Harold, Ernest, Jack and Wayne Ellis; and sisters: Leona Ellis, Jennie Ellis Hollifield and Jean Ellis Burleson.

Funeral services will be held 5:00 pm Thursday, March 26, 2015 in the Pine Branch Baptist Church with Revs. Steve Gouge and Steve Williams officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors conducted by the North Carolina National Honor Guard. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
