CHARLENE ROSE GOUGE

Charlene Rose Gouge passed away peacefully at home with family by her side on Wednesday, February 3, ^, 2016 on her 87 ^th birthday.

Charlene was a native of Mitchell County, NC who lived in Johnson City for over 40 years.  She was the daughter of the late Charles W. and Mae Forbes Garland.

She was a member of Embreeville Church of Christ and a devoted Christian. She was a homemaker that loved her family. One of her greatest joys in life was being a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother to her large family, whom she cherished.

Charlene was preceded in death by her loving son, Eddie Gouge and two sisters, Bobbi Garland and Mary Belle Gouge.

Survivors include her husband of 69 years, Bradley Gouge. Four sons; Jim Gouge and wife Kay, Mike Gouge, Ron Gouge and wife Gail, Rick Gouge and wife Chrissy, all of Johnson City, TN. Three daughters; Phyllis Garland and husband Sam of Bakersville, NC, Connie Garland and husband Lonnie, and Sally Parker and husband Jim, both of Jonesborough, TN. Daughter in Law, Frances Gouge of Jonesborough, TN; Seventeen grandchildren and thirty great-grandchildren; a brother, Brooks Garland and wife Jean of Jonesborough, TN. Two sisters; Kathleen Garland of Bakersville, NC and Helen Woody of St. Augustine, FL. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Bryan Nerron, her friend and family physician for many years. Additionally, the family is grateful for the support and care provided by Ruby and Greg of Mountain States Hospice.

The family will be receiving friends from 5:00pm – 8:00pm on Saturday, February 6, 2016 at Morris-Baker Funeral Home in Johnson City, TN. The funeral services will be held at 8:00pm with Rev. Garland Honeycutt and Rev. Kevin Laws officiating.

Graveside services will be Sunday, February 7, 2016 at 2:00pm at Roselawn Memory Gardens. Her Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
