Bruce Fred Byrd, age 82 of  Hwy 226 North Bakersville, NC went home to be with the Lord June 22, 2017 . A native of Mitchell County, NC he was a son of the late Bill and Zora Renfro Byrd. He was a member of Beans Creek Freewill Baptist Church and was self employed in Logging.

Survivors include: his loving wife; Barbara Benge Byrd, of the home, one daughter; Alicia Byrd Presley (Jason), of Telford, TN, one son; Bruce Byrd Jr., of Maryland, one sister; Ruby Davis, of Hanover, PA, and two brothers; Ed Byrd, of Deland, Florida, and Bill Byrd, of Jonesborough, TN.

He was preceded in death in addition to his parents by: one sister; Madeline Byrd, and four brothers; Rabe Byrd, L.C. Byrd, D.L. Byrd, and Robert Byrd.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, June 25, 2017 at 8:00PM in the chapel of Henline - Hughes Funeral Home with Burnie Jones officiating. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service. Interment will be Monday, June 26, 2017 at 11:00AM at Butler Cemetery (Hwy 226 N).
