Dateline: Spruce Pine, NC

Billy Carl Phillips, age 71 of Dale Rd., Spruce Pine ,NC passed away July 16, 2022 at Mission Hospitals Memorial Campus. He was a native of Mars Hill, NC and a son of the late William and Shirley Waycaster Phillips. Billy attended Bible Baptist Church and was retired from Henredon Furniture. He loved fishing, "loafering" and eating out.

Survivors include his wife Ruth Phillips, two children; Christopher Michael Phillips, and Caitlin Phillips, one brother Boyd Phillips, and three grandchildren; Christopher (Aaron) Phillips, Madison Jean Phillips, and Emily Marie Phillips.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother Ray Waycaster.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday, July 20, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Walnut Grove Church Cemetery. Interment will follow the service.
