Billy Green Hughes, 65, of Burnsville , passed away on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at his home. He was the son of the late Zeb and Sina Mae Stiles Hughes. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Ola Mae Woody and a brother, Donald James Hughes.

Billy was an outdoorsman and a well known auto mechanic. He was known as The Transmission Man by everyone who knew him.

Billy is survived by his son, Jeremiah Hughes and wife Truly and his daughter, Sharleen Wiseman and husband Michael all of Burnsville; sisters: Joyce Buchanan of Johnson City, TN and Polly Lane of Burnsville; brothers: Paul Hughes of Burnsville and Roger Hughes of Spruce Pine; the grandchildren that he cherished: Makayla Wiseman, Autumn Holtsclaw, Tori Holtsclaw, Andrea Wiseman, Gabriel Hughes, Josh Holtsclaw, Emma Wiseman and Ethan Hughes; several nieces and nephews also survive.

A memorial service will be held 6:00 pm Monday, November 27, 2017 in the chapel of Henline-Hughes Funeral Home with Revs. Ray Lane and Danny Silvers officiating. Everyone is welcome.
