Bernice Holder Young, 90, passed away peacefully at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC on November 24, 2023.  She was born in Bakersville, NC on September 12, 1933, to the late Jane Winterhalter.  She was preceded in death by her son, Keith Young.  She is survived by her sons Terry Young (Debbie), Shannon Young (Stacey), daughter Jane Timmermann, grandchildren Jonathan Timmermann, Julie Timmermann, Jenna Shaw, Macy Stebich, Joseph Young & Taylor Booe, great grandchildren Blakely Shaw, Benjamin Shaw, Carson Stebich & Wyatt Stebich, brother Don Holder, sister Wanda Hunt & much-loved friend Vivian Wrights.

Bernice graduated from Appalachian State University and was a dedicated elementary teacher for over 35 years.  She loved spending time with her family, gardening and traveling when she was able .  She was a member of Center Grove Baptist Church.

Visitation will be held at 1:30 pm on November 30th at Henline-Hughes Funeral Home in Bakersville, NC.  The service will be held in the chapel at 2 pm.  Burial will follow in Major Cemetery.
