Bernice Silver Howell, age 97, of Cleve Silver Rd , Bakersville , NC went home to be with the Lord, January 30, 2018 . A native of Mitchell County, NC she was a daughter of the late Cleve and Mamie Buchanan Silver. She was retired from Ellen Knitting Company. Bernice was a lifelong member of Silver Chapel Baptist Church where she was a dedicated servant to the church for many years. She loved gardening, and cooking for and taking care of her family and friends.

Survivors include: her daughters; Faye Benge (David), of Marion , NC , Betty Jean Hoilmon, of Bakersville , NC , Linda Yelton (Howard), also of Bakersville , NC , and a special friend Ronald McKinney, eleven grandchildren, thirty great grandchildren, and ten great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death in addition to her parents by: her husband Floyd Howell, six brothers; Lucian, Claude, Charles, Brown, Ray, and Howard Silver, two sisters; Kate Byrd, and Revia Buchanan, three children; Billy Joe, Wayne, and Floyd Howell Jr., and one great great grandchild Joshua Acuff.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 1, 2018 at 2:00PM in Silver Chapel Baptist Church with Reverend Jonathan Thacker officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow the service at Silver Chapel Cemetery .
