Bernice Butler Bishop, age 94, of the Buladean Community, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 26, 2023 at her home. She was the daughter of the late Allen and Ida Yelton Butler.  She was a member of Roan Mountain Chapter 29 Order of  The Eastern Star. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel S. Bishop; her brother, W.O. Butler and sister, Bonnie Butler; two sons, Roger Wayne Bishop and Charles Michael Bishop.

Bernice loved her Lord and was a member of Spring Creek Baptist Church. She enjoyed spending time with friends at the Mitchell County Senior Center. Bernice also enjoyed gardening and working outdoors.

Survivors include sons, Danny Allen Bishop (Dianne) of Beltsville, MD and Eric Vincent Bishop (Rose) of Bakersville; daughter in law, Marcella Bishop of Kentucky; grandchildren: Danny Bishop Jr., Dawn Marie Yeager, Andrea Winkler, Lorie Smith, Victoria Bishop, Melissa Bishop,  Sarah McKinney, James Bishop, and Michael Bishop; and numerous great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM  Thursday, August 31, 2023 in the chapel of Henline-Hughes Funeral Home with Bro. G.B. Garland officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Russ Memorial Cemetery.
