Archie Herbert Murphy, age 88 of Country Club Woods Drive, Spruce Pine, NC went home to be with the Lord March 5, 2018. he was a native of Mitchell County, NC and a son of the late Joseph and Hester Penley Murphy. He was retired as a welder and pipe fitter. He was a member of Pine Branch Baptist Church.

Survivors include: one son Michael Murphy (Patrice), of Fredericks, Virginia, a brother Lambert Murphy, of Falls Church, Virginia, grandchildren; Kristen, Truong, and Megan Murphy, four great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by in addition to his parents by: his wife Betty Johnson Murphy, two sisters, and two brothers.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at 2:30PM in the chapel of Henline - Hughes Funeral Home with Joe Bennett officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Pine Branch Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hospice of Yancey County, 856 Georges Fork Rd, Burnsville, NC 28714.
