Dateline Newland, NC

Anthony "Tony" Byrd, age 58 of Maple Vista Lane Newland, NC, went home to be with the Lord September 22, 2021. He was a son of the late Foster and Anarose Greene Byrd.

Tony was employed with the United States Postal Service as a mail carrier. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Spruce Pine and also a member of Bakersville Masonic Lodge #357 AF&AM. He enjoyed camping, watching western movies, and especially spending time with his family.

Survivors include: his wife; Selina Byrd, of the home, 2 daughters; Ariel Thomas (Travis), of Elk Park, NC, and Danielle Byrd, of the home, one son; Elijah Byrd, of Crossnore, NC, one sister; Rosemarie Janke (Siegfried), of Illinois, one brother; Gaylene Byrd, of Bakersville, NC, one grandson; Mason Thomas, one granddaughter: Brynnlee Thomas.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, September 26, 2021 at 3:00PM in the chapel of Henline - Hughes Funeral Home with Dr. Darrin Waldroup and Reverend Brent Duncan officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow the service at Pine Grove Cemetery (Pine Grove Rd. Spruce Pine, NC). Masonic graveside services will be conducted by Bakersville Masonic Lodge #357 AF&AM.
