Allie Young Buchanan, age 89, of Spruce Pine, NC went home to be with the Lord September 11, 2015 . She was a daughter of the late James and Daisy Hall Young.

She was a longtime member of Berry Chapel of Baptist Church. Allie retired from Baxter Healthcare where she enjoyed working for years with many of her dearest friends.

Allie was known for her fabulous cooking, her immaculate housekeeping, and her unwavering loyalty and unconditional love for her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty years, Frank Buchanan, her grandson, Scott Buchanan, daughter in law, Jean Buchanan, her brother, Warren Young, and sisters, Wilma Boone, Floy Gage, and Shelba Jean Grindstaff.

Allie is survived by her children and their spouses, Brenda and  Bill Calloway, Gaylene and Terry Zimmer, Donnie and Judy Buchanan, Mike Buchanan, Keith and Gail Buchanan, and her grandchildren, Rhonda Burleson, Missy Kennedy, Sharon Colvard, Shannon Sowell, Tressa Biddix, Christy Yochelson, and Adam Buchanan, eleven great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren. Also left to cherish her memory is her brother, Bill Young, and her sisters, Geneva Boone, Verna Huskins, Barbara Young, and Freda Boone.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, September 13, 2015 in Berry Chapel Baptist Church at 3:00PM with Reverend Steve Williams officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow the service at Will Young Cemetery .
