Alice B. Garland, age 88, of Bakersville, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, October 28, 2016 at her home. She was the daughter of the late Ted and Zella Buchanan Byrd and the wife of the late Fred Garland. Alice was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who was dedicated to her family. She was a member of the Bad Creek Baptist Church .

Survivors include her daughter, Rose Marie Yelton of Bakersville; grandson, Randy Davis and wife Vickie; granddaughters, Cindy McCartney and husband Rick and Theresa Loven and husband Tim; also four great grandchildren; her brother, Bradley Byrd and wife Patsy of Bakersville; sister, Teddy Malone and husband Don of Jonesborough, TN;

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Ray, an infant sibling, sister, Nell Coleman and brothers:George and Howard.

Funeral services will be 2pm Monday, October 31, 2016 in the chapel of Henline-Hughes Funeral Home with Don Stafford and Larry Greene officiating. Burial will follow in the Byrd Cemetery . The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
