Robert "Lee" Byrd

Robert "Lee" Byrd, age 92, formerly of Old Forbes Road in Bakersville, NC, passed away April 12, 2011 at the Loving Hands Health Care in Bluefield, West Virginia. He was born in Mitchell County, NC, to the late Neal and Rettie Turbyfill Byrd. He was a Farmer and was a Veteran of United States Army having served in World War II in the South Pacific and in Japan.

Survivors include nieces and nephews, Carol Byrd, Kenny Byrd, Harry Wright, Gene Byrd, and Nancy Byrd Jones, and sister in law, Virginia Byrd of Bakersville, NC.

He was preceded in death by brothers, Carl and Rex Byrd, and sister, Kate B. Wright.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 16, 2011 at 2:00PM in the Chapel of Henline-Hughes Funeral Home in Bakersville, NC with Lee McKinnon officiating the service. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service. Interment will follow in the Bakersville Memorial Cemetery.
