Susie McKinney

Susie Tipton McKinney, age 83, of South 226 Hwy, Bakersville, NC went home to be with the Lord, April 30, 2019. She was a daughter of the late Burl and Effie Bryant Tipton. Susie was a homemaker and enjoyed farming. She was a member of Vians Valley Presbyterian Church and loved her family and grandchildren. She also enjoyed gardening and cooking.

Survivors include: one daughter; Elaine McKinney Wyatt (Kenneth), of Bakersville, NC, two sisters; Mary Vinson, of Bakersville, NC, and Helen Street (Billy), of Ocean Isle, NC, two brothers; Phil Tipton, of Spruce Pine, NC, and Tony Tipton, of Jonesboro, TN, two grandchildren; Wendy Silvers (Harley), and Brittainy Bishop (Toby Sullins), three great grandchildren; Dakota, Ava, and Brinkley Silvers, and one brother in law; Edmond Hughes.

She was preceded in death in addition to her parents by: her husband Elzie McKinney, and a sister Doris Hughes, brother in law; Ron Vinson, and sister in laws; Jean Tipton, and Carol Tipton.

Funeral services will be held Friday, May 3, 2019 at 6:00PM in the chapel of Henline - Hughes Funeral Home with Neil Payne officiating and Mary Vinson sharing remembrance. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service. Interment will follow the service at McKinney Cemetery (Gage Branch Rd).

The family would like to express a special thank you to Mom's second family-the staff at Brian Center Health and Rehabilitation, especially Nurses Lisa Griffith, Michelle Rose, and Evyette Morgan, as well as CNA, Hope McLaughlin. Also a special thanks to Hospice nurse, Cynthia Wilson who gave such wonderful care in Susie's final hours.
