Roger Hughes

Dateline, Bakersville, NC

Roger Hughes, age 73, of Odoms Chapel Rd., Bakersville, NC went home to be with the Lord, January 3, 2020. He was a native of Mitchell County, NC and a son of the late James and Martha Barnett Hughes. Roger was a lifetime Christian who loved his Lord and Savior and a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and a friend to all.

He was formerly employed in electrical maintenance with ITT Electric Company in Johnson City, TN, Outboard Marine Corporation in Burnsville, NC and retired from Glen Raven Custom Fabrics in Burnsville, NC.

Survivors include: one daughter; Sherry Hobson (Mike), of Greenville, SC, two sons; Todd Hughes (Misty), and Tommy Hughes (Becky), all of Bakersville, NC, one sister; Madeline Campbell (T.M.), of Bakersville, NC, one brother; Lawrence Hughes, also of Bakersville, NC, eight grandchildren; Tristen, Evan, Laken, Skylar, Landon, and Haven Hughes, Seth Hobson, and Lane Honeycutt.

He was preceded in death in addition to his parents by: his wife; Diane Hughes; one granddaughter; Carrie Hobson, brothers; Eugene Hughes, Ed Hughes, and Leonard Hughes, sisters; Juanita Honeycutt, Eileen Honeycutt, Lucy Bolton, and Irene Goode.

Funeral services will be held Monday, January 6, 2020 at 7:00PM in the chapel of Henline - Hughes Funeral Home with Rocky Ingram and Roger Laws officiating. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service. Interment will be Tuesday, January 7, 2020 at 1:00PM at Green Young Cemetery.
