Nola Garland

DATELINE; BAKERSVILLE, NC

Nola Garland age 94, of Garland Drive Bakersville, NC passed away September 26, 2012 at The Oaks of Brevard in Brevard, NC. She was born in Yancey County, NC a daughter of the late Frank and Martha Letterman Gortney. She was a Homemaker and a Lifelong Member of Ridgeview Presbyterian Church. She loved her church and enjoyed reading her Bible. Her hobbies included; gardening, tending her flowers and sewing.

Survivors include; one son, Jerry Garland and wife Helen, of Bakersville, NC, two daughters; Ina Gay Hilemon and husband Tony, also of Bakersville, NC, and Noreda Moody of Brevard, NC, two sisters; Sarah Louise Garland, of  Winnabow, NC, and Naomi Henry, of Wilmington, NC, three grandchildren; Cheryl Wells, Shannon Fox, and Selena Hilemon, six great grandchildren; Andy, John, Kennedy, and Candice Beattie, and Jesse and Conner Fox, and her loving dog Zeke.

She was preceded in death by; her husband Isaac Garland, brothers; Holt, Park, and Paul Gortney, sisters; Betty Garland, Floy Whitson, and Zula Miller.

The family will receive friends Friday, September 28, 2012 from 2:00PM until 3:00PM in Ridgeview Presbyterian Church. A Graveside Service will follow the visitation at Ridgeview Cemetery with Charlie Carroway officiating.
