Marilyn M (Swenson) Bartle

Marilyn Mae Bartle, age 82 of Bakersville, NC passed away due to a long battle with an illness in Spruce Pine, NC at the Brian Center. During Marilyn's illness she was under the excellent care of the Brian Center; as well as Yancey Hospice Team. The care and support she received from the nurses, nurses assistants, chaplain, and counselor was professional, caring, and supportive. Our family is at a loss of words to express our heartfelt appreciation for all you do. We consider you a part of our family. On behalf of Marilyn and our family thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Marilyn was born in 1935 to William and Evelyn Swenson in San Diego, California. Marilyn was the eldest of three children. The family relocated to Aurora, Illinois where she attended East Aurora School. Marilyn then lived in Janesville, Wisconsin where she met and married Claude (Sonny) Bartle. In 1988 they relocated to Marion, NC from Janesville. In 1999 they moved to Cane Creek in Bakersville, NC. Marilyn enjoyed a long career as a medical transcriptionist typing 120 words per minute at McDowell Hospital, Rutherfordton Hospital, and Anderson Mercy Hospital before retiring in 2009. Marilyn enjoyed music and self-taught herself on the piano and accordion and enjoyed playing at numerous churches, community events, and funeral services. Her favorite songs were "Whispering Pines" and "Amazing Grace". Marilyn enjoyed fishing and camping with the family and friends.

Marilyn was preceded in death in addition to her parents by; sister Karla Jean Worley; daughter Cindi Thompson and her beloved/devoted black lab "Wizard". Marilyn is survived by her husband Claude (Sonny) Bartle of 43 years; brother Bill Swenson (Cheyenne) of Oregon, Illinois, sister in law Mary Baban Ramsdell of Janesville, Wisconsin; son Daniel (Julie) Bartle of Janesville, Wisconsin; daughter Vickie Wanek (Rodger Vaade) of Janesville, Wisconsin; daughter Shannon Bartle (Carolyn Cimerro), of Durham, NC, grandchildren; Jayson and Anna Bartle, of Leeds, Wisconsin; Justin Bartle of North Dakota; Katrina Thompson of Watertown, Wisconsin; Amber Thompson of Watertown Wisconsin; Jesse Linhart (Amy) of Reedsburd, Wisconsin; Joshua Linhart of Janesville, Wisconsin and numerous great grandchildren, dear friends; Thelma Owen; Beulah Gage and Mildred Owenby; Ralph and Barbara Turner and family of Marion, NC.

A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, June 23, 2018 at 2:00PM in Hawk Community Center (Staggerweed Rd) Bakersville, NC.
