Janice Carroll (Moffitt) McKinney

Janice Carroll Moffitt McKinney, age 70, of Bakersville, NC, the Buladean Community, passed away Sunday, March 10, 2019 in the Memorial Mission Hospital in Asheville, NC.

Mrs. McKinney was born October 17, 1948, the daughter of the late Brownlow and Lennis Moffitt. Due to health issues, Janice retired from Home Health of Mitchell County after many years of service. It was her devotion in life to help people through her work. She was a member of Spring Creek Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Gary S. McKinney of the home; sons: Ryan "Brownie" McCann (Tracie) of Bakersville and Tracy McKinney (Donna) of Erwin, TN; daughter, Cynthia "Sissy" McKinney (Charles Davis) of Johnson City, TN; sister, Jeannene Garland (Floyd) of Bakersville; aunt, Georgia Moffitt of Bakersville; grandchildren: Taylor McKinney, Autumn Beckner, Aubree Williams, Jennifer Randolph and Josh Randolph; 9 great grandchildren; niece, Jessica Garland Williams (Darren); and special friend, Sharon Birchfield.

Funeral services will be 7:00 pm Wednesday, March 13, 2019 in the Spring Creek Baptist Church with Pastor Bob McCurry and Rev. William Ellis officiating. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service. Burial will be 10:00 am Thursday in the Middle District Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials my be made to the Scleroderma Foundation, 300 Rosewood Dr. Suite 105, Danvers, MA 01923, or Hospice and Palliative Care of the Blue Ridge, 236 Hospital Dr., Spruce Pine, NC 28777.
