James "Whitey" Johnson

James "Whitey" Loyd Johnson, age 77 of US 70 West, Marion, NC passed away October 30, 2018. He was a native of McDowell County, NC and a son of the late James and Doanie Williams Johnson. He was a Mason, and Shriner, and member of Masonic Lodge #401 in Old Fort, NC. He was retired as the owner and operator of JLJ Trucking Company in Marion, NC. He enjoyed hunting and car racing.

Survivors include: two brothers; Tommy and Carl Dean Johnson, both of Marion, NC, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death in addition to his parents by: his wife Arletha Callahan Johnson, a sister; Edith Johnson, and four brothers; Bill and Jeter Laws, Cecil and Fred Johnson.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 3, 2018 at 2:00PM in the chapel of Henline - Hughes Funeral Home with Mike Peterson officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Bailey Cemetery (John Sparks Rd).
