Hugh Boone

On November 16, 2018 about 5:45 PM, the Angels made a special visit to see Hugh Boone, 91, of Bakersville, NC. Although death had tried to take him two times earlier in life, he had refused to leave his beloved beautiful wife, Geneva Boone, who passed away late in September of 2017. Since she went home to be with the Lord, Hugh was ready to go see her. First and foremost, he loved the Lord, which  showed though his testimony he has left behind. Next, come a strong love for his family.  Hugh had a reputation of being hard to beat at anything from guns, baseball, cards, and any other sporting activity. Many a man was frustrated and upset that they could not beat Hugh Boone. It took death three times to finally take him. Geneva's prayers and the prayers of all the people that loved Hugh. Along with his wife, Hugh was greeted in heaven by his brother, Jake Boone, Sister, Jo Ruth Hughes, Half brother, Jim Boone, half sister Jean, step sister Juanita West, who was a full sister in love, as well as his step mother Catherine Boone, Father Charles Boone and mother, Ann Lovin.

Hugh and Geneva had two children. A daughter, Sharon K. Boone-Willis, who was called to become a medical  physician and later an author, writing to tell about all the miracles God had shown her with the first being her own father. The daughter married the grandson of Rev. Jeff Willis, her pastor, when she was a little girl, Dennis V. Willis, who was a wonderful Christian man that she found truly walked  the Christian life as well as talked it. Hugh and Geneva also had a son, Joey Hugh Boone, who was born 5 days after his dad’s disabling aneurysmal stroke. Joey never got to see the strong, fit amazing man his father was before the stroke, but he still enjoyed his Daddy’s sense of humor, mischief,  beautiful smile, his kind heart, his amazing mechanical skills that he taught to his talented son. Joey became a successful business man and Joey in turn gave his parents a beautiful sweet wife, Norma, who loved his parents like her own. Joey and Norma had a beautiful, talented, daughter, Emily, whom  Hugh and Geneva thought hung the moon and adored. Daddy loved to get in the floor and play games with his granddaughter. Later, Emily married a sweet, wonderful man, Matthew Meadows of Erwin, Tennessee. They gave Hugh his pride and joy, Alyssa, whom he loved and adored. All through his long life he kept a beautiful sweet smile and gentle way, always being loving and caring. He was led to the Lord by pastor Turbyfield when he was a young man, who also was the same pastor that led Geneva to Jesus. We know where they are. Safe in the arms of Jesus and one day we will be joining them because we all followed their lead and asked Jesus into our hearts to after watching their good and godly lives. So it isn’t goodbye it is only, we will be seeing you someday soon when Jesus calls us. We  love you, Daddy.

Hugh was a Veteran of The United States Army serving in WWII, and was a member of Lily Branch Baptist church. He was retired from I.M.C. at Kona, NC. He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather.
