George Rubin Woody

George Rubin Woody, age 85, of Hwy 19 E, Spruce Pine, NC went home to be with the Lord, May 17, 2019. He was a native of Mitchell County, NC and a son of the late Mallie and Nell Trivett Woody. He was retired from The Town of Spruce Pine Maintenance Department. He was a member of Whites Memorial Baptist Church. He enjoyed music and playing his guitar.

Survivors include his son; Tex Woody and loving wife Deborah (faithful wife and loving companion who helped care for George), of Spruce Pine, NC. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rosa Clawson Woody, sister, Orla Pendley and brothers: Junior Woody and Jason Woody.

Funeral services will be 3:00 PM Sunday, May 19, 2019 in the chapel of Henline-Hughes Funeral Home with Rev. Tex Woody officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Mt Carmel Cemetery.

The family would like to express a special thank you to Brittany Murdock and all the staff and workers of Hospice and Palliative Care of the Blue Ridge. They are "angels on earth".
