ELIZABETH HONEYCUTT

 

Dora Elizabeth Buchanan Honeycutt, “Lib”, passed into eternal rest on Thursday, September 19, 2019.

 

Elizabeth, 76, was a native of Mitchell County and resided in the Cane Creek Creek Community. She was the daughter of the late Edgar E. and Allie Pitman Buchanan.

                                                                                          

Elizabeth was a member of the Roan Mountain Baptist Church and a former employee of Intermountain Children’s Services Head Start Program, a role in which she touched the lives of countless children for more than 20 years. She enjoyed traveling, camping, gardening, cooking, and spending time with her family. One of Elizabeth’s greatest joys in life was that of being a mother and a grandmother to her family, as well as to others in her community.

 

She is preceded in death, in addition to her parents, by her son, Monte Lloyd Honeycutt, and her siblings, Juanita Young and Luther Buchanan.

 

Surviving are her husband of 55 years, Lloyd Honeycutt of Bakersville, NC; sons: Tony Honeycutt and wife Angela of Dandridge, TN, and Tim Honeycutt and wife Caroline of Bakersville, NC; sister: June Bryant of Johnson City, TN; grandchildren: Lukas, Malachi, Garland, Hamilton (fiancée, Laura Miller), Haley, Carter, and Emory; several nieces and nephews.

 

The family would like to extend a special thank you for the care provided by CarePartners Hospice and Pallative Care of Mission Health in Asheville.

 

Funeral services will be held 7:00 PM, Sunday, September 22, 2019 at the Roan Mountain Baptist Church with Rev. Garland Honeycutt, Rev. Russell McKinney, and Rev. Daniel Whetstine officiating. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service. Interment will be held 10:00 AM Monday at the Roan Mountain Baptist Church Cemetery on Sandy Branch. Pallbearers will be Gary Gouge, Carter Honeycutt, Hamilton Honeycutt, Lukas Honeycutt, Malachi Honeycutt, and Scott Whorten.
