Darrell Delaney Ledford
February 4, 1967 - January 19, 2019
WINDSOR – Mr. Darrell Delaney Ledford, 51, passed away suddenly on Saturday, January 19, 2019.
Darrell was a lifelong resident of Aiken County, and a 1985 graduate of South Aiken High School. He worked as a lifeguard at the Aiken State Park, was a bus driver for South Aiken High, a mechanic for John Deer and Wayne’s Automotive, and was a machinist for FMC. He was a member of Windsor First Baptist Church.
Darrell enjoyed fishing and traveled to many great fishing spots with the lakes of Canada being a beloved spot. He also amassed a huge coin collection and shared rare & significant coins with his family on special occasions. Darrell roamed around old home sites and saved historic bottles that had been left behind. He was a big part of the equestrian farm business that his brother Doug operates.
Darrell was a kind, considerate, and unselfish person. His friends say he has a big heart and fun-loving spirit, and was a pleasure to be around. He truly loved his family and his nieces and nephews were the center of his world, to them he was “Apple D,” and they loved spending time with him.
Darrell is survived by his parents, Delaney Smith Ledford and Rosalee Norman Ledford; a sister, Jennifer (Chris) Cady, Aiken, two brothers, Doug (Vivian) Ledford, Aiken, Jeff Ledford, Windsor; nieces and nephews, Megan Ledford, Ethan Ledford, Ashley Cady, Joshua Cady, Nicholas Ledford, Grace Ledford, and Isaac Ledford.
A memorial service will be held July 13, 2019 in Little Rock Creek Baptist Church with Keith Beck officiating.
