Betty Louise (Greene) Garland

Betty Greene Garland, age 84 of Hubert Yelton Rd, went home to be with the Lord August 18, 2017. She was a native of Mitchell County, NC and a daughter of the late Dewey and Nancy Yelton Greene.

She was a member of Beans Creek Church of Jesus Christ and was retired from Mitchell County Schools where she worked in the cafeteria for 26 years.

Survivors include: her husband of 68 years, Guy Garland, two sons; Donnie Garland (Dena), of Spruce Pine, NC, Danny Garland (Brenda), of Mountain City, TN, two daughters; Patricia Garland, of Bakersville, NC, and Deborah Styles (Alden), of Burnsville, NC, three brothers; George, Bruce, and Buster Greene, all of Bakersville, NC, six grandchildren, Karen Melton (Allen), and Brian Baker, of Bakersville, NC, Eric Wheeler and Justin Wheeler (Carrie), of Spruce Pine, NC, Josh Wheeler (Jessica), of Burnsville, NC, and Amanda Greene (Brian), also of Bakersville, NC, fourteen great grandchildren, and four great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death in addition to her parents by: one daughter, Judy Lynn Garland, one sister, Lois Greene, and two brothers; Donald and Dallas Greene.

Funeral services will be held Monday,  August 21, 2017 at 2:00PM in the chapel of Henline - Hughes Funeral Home with G.B. Garland officiating. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service. Interment will follow the service at Fork Mountain Baptist Church Cemetery.
