Michael "Mike" Buchanan

Michael "Mike" Buchanan, age 70 of Dula Rd, Spruce Pine, NC passed away April 15, 2024. He was a native of Mitchell County, NC and a son of the late Frank and Allie Young Buchanan.

Mike was a Construction Electrician and worked most of his career with Haynes Lunsford Electric. He attended Berry Chapel Baptist Church. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also was an outstanding high school football player and enjoyed watching westerns and sports of any kind. Most of all he loved spending time with his family who were very important to him.

Survivors include his daughter Christy Yochelson (Cliff), of Cary, NC, one sister Brenda Calloway (Bill), of Spruce Pine, NC, brother Keith Buchanan (Gail) of Independence, Kentucky, and one granddaughter Alyssa Yochelson and his extended family Joe Owens (Lula), Brenda Watson (Paul) all of Spruce Pine, NC, Laura Lee Lassiter, and Judy Buchanan, and Delmar Owens (Deceased).

Mike was preceded in death in addition to his parents by his wife Jean Buchanan, one brother Donnie Buchanan, and one sister Gaylene Zimmer.

Funeral services will be held Friday, April 19, 2024 at 3:00PM in Berry Chapel Baptist Church with Reverend Steve Williams officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at the Will Young Cemetery.
