Lloyd "Hotshot" Morris Obituary

After 73 years and countless miles, Lloyd Charles Morris, known as Hotshot since he was a boy, passed away peacefully in Lily Branch, NC, on April 10, 2024. He was a husband, father, brother, son, and a friend, and will be missed beyond measure.

Hotshot decided early on that he wanted to be a truck driver, which he did for more than 50 years, driving his own trucks, driving for Underwood & Weld, and for Feldspar Trucking. He loved being on the road and trucked to all 48 states and Canada. In these travels, he made friends all over and turned heads everywhere with his Peterbilts.

Hotshot had several pastimes over the years, like softball, fishing, and golf, but his favorite of late was walking his dogs on the Cane Creek Greenway, which he did most days. Never afraid of a long trip, Hotshot took many fishing excursions to the midwest and Canada, making cherished memories for all involved.

He was survived by his wife, Linda Presnell Morris, of Bakersville, NC, his son Corey Morris, and his wife Beth and daughter Kaylee, of Morrisville, NC, his brother, Rick Morris, of Spruce Pine, NC, his sisters Carolyn Wise and fiance Tom Sparks of Newland, NC, and Marilyn Sparks and husband Richard of Lily Branch, several nieces and nephews, and his beloved dogs, Dottie and Tebow.

Hotshot was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis Linwood Morris and Kathleen Morris (Huskins) Hall, of Lily Branch, NC.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, April 14, 2024 at 3:00 PM in Henline-Hughes Funeral Home, with Don Ford and Toby Crowder officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM until the service time. Interment will follow immediately after the service at Lily Branch Baptist Church Cemetery. The pallbearers will be Hotshot’s nephews Mike and Marty Wise, Barry and Austin Boone, Rick Jones, and Logan Guinn.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Mitchell County Animal Rescue in remembrance of a lifelong animal lover.
