Linda "Mama Faye" Freeman went home to be reunited with her family and her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, April 9, 2024 in the presence of her loving son. She lived a humble and thankful life for God, her family, and her friends. Never knowing a stranger, Faye saw the good in everyone and showed them unconditional love, kindness, and empathy. The impression of faith, love and charity she left on those around her is not easily forgotten and seldom found on this earth. Faye felt her best and most fulfilled helping those around her. She lived her happiest days being a mother, grandmother, good neighbor, and friend. She loved gardening, cooking for her loved ones, and giving her time to her church and glory to God. The hole she leaves in the hearts and lives of those that knew her is not easily filled. Her example of love and unwavering faith is an example to us all for the kind of life we ought to live.
Faye is preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Elsie Callahan, her husband, Robert (Bob) Freeman, her son, Gary Freeman, and her siblings, Francis Wise, Dave Callahan, Ronnie Callahan, and Rabe Callahan Jr.
Survivors include her son, Greg Freeman (Amanda) of Spruce Pine, brother Eddie Wayne Callahan (Betty) of Shelby, NC; grandson, Gabe Hoilman (Samantha) of Burnsville and a step great granddaughter, Persi Boyd.
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Saturday, April 13, 2024 in the Red Hill Baptist Church, of which she was a longtime member. Pastor Randy Wise will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
