| DATELINE: Spruce Pine, NC Kate McKinney
Willis, age 76 of Dr. Howell Rd, Spruce Pine, NC passed away Monday,
February 18, 2008 at Blue Ridge Regional Hospital. She was the
daughter of the late Edith Willis and Landon Pitman, of Bakersville,
NC. She was also preceded in death by three sisters, Hazel Huskins,
Jennie Greene, and Anna Pitman, three brothers, Hayden, Joe, and
Homer Pitman, husbands, Brown McKinney and Byrd Willis, and one son,
David McKinney.
She was retired from Hampshire Hosiery, and a member of Bear
Creek Baptist Church.
Survivors include; two daughters, Debra and Husband, Gene York,
Pam and husband, Phillip Jones all of Spruce Pine, NC, one step
daughter, Kathy and husband, Mark Garland, of Spruce Pine, NC, a
sister, Lora Runion, of Spruce Pine, NC, eight grandchildren and
five great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, February 20th at 3:00PM
in Berry Chapel Baptist Church with Chris Rathbone and Jacob Willis
officiating. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the
service. Interment will follow at Bear Creek Cemetery.
