STAFFORD
Virgil Stafford, age 76, of Berry Street, Spruce Pine, NC passed
away January 31st, 2008 at Blue Ridge Regional Hospital. He was the
son of the late Tom and Lucille Pitman Stafford, and a native of
Mitchell County, NC. He was retired from Henredon Furniture. He was
a member of Freedom Baptist Church. Survivors include; son, Billy
Joe Stafford, and wife Ethel Miller of Spruce Pine, NC, daughter,
Judy Stafford and husband John Lowery, of Spruce Pine, NC, three
stepchildren, Patricia Silver, of Spruce Pine, NC, Billy Joe Cox, of
Marion, NC, and Ricky Cox, of Green Mountain, NC, two brothers Joe
Ray Stafford, of Valdese, NC, and Reverend Don Stafford, of
Bakersville, NC, three granddaughters, Stephanie Lowery Jones, Sarah
Elizabeth Stafford, and Rachel Rebekah Stafford, two grandsons,
Dewayne Lowery, and Scott Lowery, and several step grandchildren,
and step great grandchildren, and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by; wife, June Cox Stafford, and a
grandson, Thomas Matthew Stafford.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, February 3rd at 3:00PM, in
Freedom Baptist Church (Roan Rd) with David Troutman, Donald Davis,
and Greg Hollifield officiating. The family will receive friends one
hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Freedom Gardens
(Church Cemetery).
