Brown Poteat, 81 of Bakersville, NC died July 5, 2007 after a
valiant struggle with cancer. A native of Wilmington,NC ,she loved
her hometown..She was the daughter of the late John S L Brown,Sr and
Virginia Lenora Benton Brown.She volunteered for many organizations
and was a
Member of
Church of The Servant Episcopal Church in Wilmington,NC.
She was married
for 65 years to James “Jim”A Poteat. Surviving are her husband Jim
and daughter Virginia Poteat Lovejoy and her husband Gordon of
Bakersville,NC. Her grandchildren, Aimee Lovejoy of Bakersville,NC ,
Joshua A Poteat and his wife Allison of Richmond,Virginia, Gabriel
James Lovejoy of Wilmington,NC and Kira M Poteat of Waynesville,NC.
A great grandson, Jacob N Bacon of Bakersville,NC and manyother
loving family members. Mrs Poteat is preceded in death by her
beloved son James A Poteat,Jr and brother John S L Brown,Jr. She
cherished her family and friends , and will be missed, John 14: 1-3.
Graveside services will be held at 3 pm Monday, July 9, 2007 at
Oleander MemorialGardens in Wilmington,NC. Memorials may be made to
Hospice of Mitchell County, PO Box 38, Spruce Pine,NC 28777,who so
lovingly cared for our dear one. Henline-Hughes is assisting the
family.
