| DATELINE: BAKERSVILLE, NC CLAUDE PITMAN
Claude Pitman, 80, of the Cane Creek Community went home to be
with the Lord on Thursday, June 24, 2010 at his home. A
native of Mitchell County, he was the son of the late Dock and
Bertie Woody Pitman. He was preceded in death by four
brothers, Fred, Earl, Edd, and Graham Pitman; and six sisters,
Lois Pitman, Gladys Ledford, Florence Wilson, Georgia Dixon,
Arlene Hudson, and Iva Lee Moss. He was a gifted guitar
player, gospel singer, and a member of Cane Creek Baptist
Church.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce Jones Pitman of the home; one
son, Thomas Wayne Pitman and wife Sheila of Bakersville; two
daughters, Cheryl Buchanan and husband Eddie of Bakersville, and
Diana Hughes and husband Robert of Bakersville; five grandsons,
Shane Hughes, Adam Hughes, Michael Buchanan, Anthony Pitman, and
Brandon Pitman; a granddaughter, Sarah Pitman; one brother, Lawrence
Pitman; and two sisters, Edith Bumgardner and Jean Boyd; and
numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 4:00PM, Sunday, June 27,
2010 at the Cane Creek Baptist Church with Reverends Lonnie
McClellan and Ronnie Gouge officiating. The family will
receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will
follow in the Cane Creek Cemetery.
