Sallie Mae McKinney

Bakersville - Sallie Mae McKinney, 91, of 516 Crimson Laurel Way, Bakersville, died Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2007, at the Brian Center in Spruce Pine.

She was the daughter of the late Riley and Jane Buchanan McKinney. She was preceded in death by her husband, Romie; sons, Jerry and Billy Ray; two brothers and two sisters.

She attended Friendship Baptist Church and was a charter member of Emmanuel Baptist Church.

Survivors include her two daughters, Christine Davis and Jane M. Pittman, of Bakersville; two sons, Lewis McKinney, of Richmond, Va., and Sam McKinney, of Bakersville; 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Friendship Baptist Church in Bakersville, with the Revs. Bob McKinney and Adam Brewer officiating. The body will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in the chapel of HenlineHughes Funeral Home, in Bakersville.

Interment will be held following the service Saturday, at Edwards Cemetery.
