Myrtle Stevenson McCoury, age 91 of Green Young Cemetery Rd,
Bakersville, NC passed away February 25th 2008 at Brian Center
Healthcare in Spruce Pine, NC. She was the daughter of the late
Arthur Joe and Electa Burleson Stevenson, and a Native of Newland,
NC. She was a homemaker and a founder of Crab Orchard Freewill
Baptist Church in Plumtree, NC where she was also a member.
Survivors include; daughters, Elwanda Ledford and husband Darrell
of Bakersville, NC, Pat Phillips and husband Donald of Bakersville,
NC, and Judy Dellinger and husband Doug, also of Bakersville, NC,
one son, Dickie McCoury and wife Susan, of Newland, NC, two
brothers, Leonard Stevenson, and Ted Stevenson, three sisters, Pearl
Dilley, Helen Hanson, and Ann Brewer, six grandchildren, Darrell
Scooter Ledford, Todd Dickie McCoury, Myra Victoria McCoury, Patrick
Phillips, Penny Turbyfill, and Dale Dellinger, eleven great
grandchildren. She was preceded in death by; husband, Zellian
McCoury, brothers, Bob Stevenson, Lloyd Stevenson, and Charles
Stevenson, one sister, Daisy Ward.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, February 27th at 7:30PM
in the chapel of Henline - Hughes Funeral Home with Brandon Young
officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00PM until the
service time. Interment will be Thursday, February 28th at 11:00AM
at McCoury Rock Cemetery.
In Lieu of flowers Memorials may be made to Crab Orchard Freewill
Baptist Church c/o Eddie and Linda Young, Jakes Branch Rd Spruce
