MASTERS
Joyce Street Masters, age 87 of Harrell Hill Rd, Bakersville, NC,
passed away April 8, 2010 at her home. She was a native of Mitchell
County, NC and the daughter of the late Joe M. and Pearl Herrell
Street . She was retired from the Mitchell County School
System. She was a member of Pleasant Grove Church of the Brethren,
Delta Kappa Gamma, and the North Carolina Principals and
Administrators Organization. She was a graduate of Tipton Hill High
School, East Tennessee State University, and Appalachian State
University. She was on the Board of Directors of Mayland Community
College, and a former Chairwoman of the Mitchell County Republican
Party. She was a former Principal and teacher at Tipton Hill
Elementary School.
Survivors include her husband, Norris Masters, of the home, one
son, Keith Masters and wife Carol of Bakersville, NC, sister, Josie
S. Potter, of Bakersville, NC, and three grandchildren, Jason
Masters and wife Rachael of Asheville, NC, Lincoln Masters of
Newland, NC, and Adam Masters of Morrisville, NC. She was preceded
in death by her brother, Luther Street.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, April 11, 2010 at 2:00PM in
the chapel of Henline - Hughes Funeral Home with Frank Herbert and
John Smith officiating. The family will receive friends one hour
prior to the service. Interment will follow at Masters Cemetery (Bee
Branch Rd) In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to: Hospice of
Mitchell County PO Box 38 Spruce Pine NC 28777. Henline - Hughes
