GRINDSTAFF
Joe Royce Grindstaff, age 82, of Bakerville, NC, passed away
March 8, 2010 at the Blue Ridge Regional Hospital in Spruce Pine,
NC. He was a native of Mitchell County, NC, and was the son of
the late Forrest and Mary Woody Grindstaff. He was self
employed as a long distance truck driver. He was a Veteran of
the US Navy and SeaBees. He was a Member and Deacon of the
Toecane Baptist Church. Survivors include: his wife, Betty
June Johnson Grindstaff, of the home, daughter, Rebecca G. McKinney
and husband Kevin of Bakersville, NC, brother, Lyda Grindstaff and
wife Dorothy of Bakersville, NC, grandaughter, Stacie Jo Johnson and
husband Marty of North Wilkesboro, NC, two special girls, Jenny and
Kelly McKinney who called him "Pa Joe", special great nephew, Craig
Grindstaff and wife Bethany. He was preceded in death by: twin
sister, Joyce Grindstaff, sister, Lela Rhyne, brother, Louie
Grindstaff. Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 11, 2010 at 7:00
PM in the Chapel of Henline-Hughes Funeral Home in Bakersville, NC.
Visitation will be two hours prior to the service. Sherrill
Whitson, Mark McKinney, and Mike Grindstaff will be officiating the
service. Interment will be Friday, March 12, 2010 at 11:00 AM
at the Green Young Cemetery. Memorials may be made to:
