Helen Virginia Garland age 78 of Feldspar Street, Spruce Pine NC
passed away September 8, 2007 at Brian Center Healthcare in Spruce
Pine, NC. She was a native of Mitchell County, NC and the daughter
of the late Ross and Bertha Harding Garland. She was a member of
Freedom Baptist Church and was a retired cook having worked in
several restaurants throughout Mitchell County, including Young's
Restaurant in Spruce Pine, NC.
Survivors include; sisters, Kathleen Pritchard, of Spruce Pine,
NC, Joan McGee, of Hickory, NC, Jean Thomas, of Morganton, NC, and
Peggy Forbes, and husband Ray, of Bakersville, NC, two sisters in
law, Kathleen Robinson Garland, and Eloise Grindstaff Garland, also
surviving are several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in
death by; brothers, Carl, Claude, Hugh, and Paul Garland. Funeral
services will be held Monday, September 10th, 2007 at 7:00PM in the
chapel of Henline - Hughes Funeral Home with David Troutman, Greg
Hollifield, and Donald Davis officiating. The family will receive
friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will be Tuesday,
September 11th at 11:00AM at Johnson Memorial Cemetery. Henline -
