Shelba Jean Grindstaff age 72 of Grindstaff Way, Bakersville, NC passed away May 29, 2011 at her home. She was born in Yancey County, NC to the late Jim and Daisy Hall Young and was retired from Buck Stove Corporation. She was a member of Snow Hill Baptist Church.
 
Survivors include; daughter Donna Brewer and husband Wes, of Bakersville, NC one son Dereck Grindstaff and wife Melanie, also of Bakersville, NC five sisters, Alley Buchanan, of Spruce Pine, NC, Geneva Boone and Verna Huskins, both of Bakersville, NC, Barbara Young, of Moyock, NC, and Fredia Boone, of Micaville, NC, one brother Bill Young, of Spruce Pine, NC, five grandchildren, Ashley Adkinson Ali Brewer, Andrew Brewer, Jacob Grindstaff, and Danielle Grindstaff, two great grandchildren, Lathan Adkinson and Grayson Singleton.
 
She was preceded in death by her husband Guy Edward Grindstaff, sisters Wilma Boone and Floy Gage, brother Warren Young, and one son Danny Grindstaff.
 
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at 4:00PM in Snow Hill Baptist Church with Dean Honeycutt, Danny Silvers, and Harold Grindstaff officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Snow Hill Cemetery.
 
Memorials may be made to: Hospice of Mitchell County 236 Hospital Drive, Spruce Pine, NC 28777.

Best is very sad to learn of this news. We will continue to pray for the Grindstaff family - Danny was very speical to us - he loved his family dearly. We are so sorry to hear of the loss of his mother. Special prayers to the family

May knowing your''e in the hearts and thoughts of others help you and yours through this time of sorrow in the loss of your mother. (I knew Danny from Best in Goldsboro and he was a sweet and caring person and loved his family.)He send me some of his mother recipes.
