Emma English Calhoun
Emma English Calhoun, age 89, of Sokassa Road, Newland, NC, passed away February 29, 2012 at the Charles A. Cannon Jr. Memorial Hospital in Linville, NC. She was born in Avery County, NC to the late Mull and Modena Ollis English. She was one of ten children. She had previously worked as a Cook at the Shady Lawn Restaurant in Newland, NC. She was a Member of the Oak Grove Baptist Church in Newland, NC.
Survivors include: her son, Allen Calhoun and wife Linda of Morganton, NC, grandchildren, Eric Allen Calhoun and Regina Renee’ Ledford, great grandchildren, Casey Calhoun, Aaron and Preston Gray.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Tilfred Allen Calhoun.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 3, 2012 at 2:00PM in the Oak Grove Baptist Church in Newland, NC. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Ron Greene, Phil Murdock, and Bradley Calhoun will be officiating the service. Interment will follow in the Newland Cemetery.
