Leonard Clarence Phillips, age 83 of Richmond Rd, Bakersville, NC passed away June 28, 2011 at College Pines Nursing Center in Valdese, NC. Born in Mitchell County, NC to the late Oscar and Nora Phillips. He was retired from Alba Waldensian Company as a Fixer.

 

Survivors include; wife Doris Phillips of Bakersville, NC, daughter Melissa Moore and husband Jimmy of Lenoir, NC, son Ricky Phillips of Bakersville, NC, adopted daughters, Elizabeth Penley of Morganton, NC, Shannon Gragg and Paula Kelley both of Lenoir NC, one grandson Ryan Phillips of Valdese, NC, five sisters, Edna Street, Ruth Hoilman, Kathrine Phillips, Dorothy Phillips, and Sue Phillips all of Bakersville, NC, caregiver, niece Pam Logeson, several nieces and nephews, and a special pet cat Chloe.

 

He was preceded in death by wife, Irene Pittman Phillips, brothers, Glen, Arnold, and Gene Phillips.

 

Funeral services will be held Friday, July 1, 2011 at 3:00PM in Calvary Baptist Church with Shane Gunter, Dewayne Buchanan, and Ronnie Gouge officiating, the family will receive friends two hours prior to the service. Interment will follow at Cane Creek Cemetery.
